As the director of a creative business in London, the owner of this private residence had a natural style. We worked closely with the owner to reflect this in the interior design scheme and bespoke furniture required for her home.
For this project we worked with the client directly, as both interior designer and furniture designer, involving them in every stage of the design process from the initial concepts through to the final installation.

The brief was to create a luxurious and comfortable family home. The property required refurbishment throughout and every team at Origins Design was involved in the interior design scheme, and creation of the made to measure joinery, metalwork and upholstery for the home.
It was a great opportunity for us as bespoke furniture makers to craft pieces for every room in the house using a vast mix of materials and finishes.
The transformation of the family property started in the main living space.
A large bespoke sofa upholstered in a steel blue velvet with a stained beech wood frame was positioned to make the most of the view through to the landscaped garden.
Two curved occasional chairs with stained oak frames sport feature vertical leather strap details on the backrests and deep upholstered seat cushions in a light grey. Interesting fabrics in matching tones were selected for the scatter cushions.

A large coffee table sits centrally with a stained wood frame to match the frames of the upholstered furniture. Antique mirror was selected for the lower shelf of the coffee table to add character and depth. A set of three versatile round brass nesting tables add warmth to the colour scheme with their gold tones and antique mirror tabletops.
In the owner’s home study, a bespoke fitted desk and shelving was created by our joinery team with a grey spray finish, brass inlay on the desk and shelf edges, and antique mirror backing behind all the shelves.
Bespoke brass handles made by Origins Design were added to the base cupboards. The antique mirrored glass was also used in the main hallway of the house for a large bespoke mirror with brass inlay and a matching console table in stained wood.
Bespoke fitted storage units were added on opposite sides of the playroom room for the children. As the room would eventually be repurposed once the owner’s children are older, the design of the storage was carefully considered and purposefully stylish to ensure longevity.
In the kitchen, we designed and made custom bar stools in stained oak to allow the family to sit at the breakfast bar. The seats were upholstered in a burnout velvet with a smart geometric pattern and colourway to match the blue and off-white kitchen.
The result was so successful that the kitchen and bar stools of this comfortable family home were featured on the cover of Essential Kitchen Bedroom & Bathroom magazine in June 2019.
The transformation of this smart family home extended to the more private areas of the home; in the powder room our cabinet makers and spray finishers made a custom high-gloss vanity unit in blush pink with bespoke crystal and brass handles, and white wenge marble top and countertop basin.
The first of the two dressing rooms was designed to display the clients favourite clothing and accessories. The dressing room was fitted with fully recessed stained oak black shelving and hanging space with integrated lighting, glass shelves and antique mirror backing.
White storage shelving and hanging space with powder coated hanging rails was made to fit the alcoves and eaves of the smaller second dressing room and a stained oak black dressing table made to sit at the window.
