The interior design team of this stunning new-build house situated in a highly sought-after development in West Byfleet needed our help to create comfortable luxury living spaces that would work for a large family.
Tasked with a complete turnkey fit-out, their brief was to deliver a luxurious yet practical interior with a distinctly glamorous edge. We worked in tandem with the Octagon Interiors team to deliver bespoke furniture, upholstery and specialist joinery throughout, ensuring every space met the brief and was thoughtfully designed.

Set within a prestigious 25-acre development, this six-bedroom family home was designed and built by Octagon Developments to an exceptional standard. However, the biggest challenge was to provide a larger than average family with enough storage and space to fulfil their needs for comfortable and luxury living.
“We overcame the challenge of providing luxury living for the homeowner’s large family by designing and implementing lots of specialist joinery, paying attention to detail and having a supplier like Origins Design that we knew could interpret and execute from concept to completion with ease” said Octagon Interiors’ Head of Design.
Careful zoning of the house allowed for the creation of distinct spaces: formal entertaining areas, cosy family spaces and restful private quarters. Key to the brief was providing ample storage and ensuring each room served its purpose both stylishly and functionally.
We delivered furniture that fitted seamlessly with the interior design scheme including bespoke joinery in the study, a fully fitted dressing room in the principal suite and bedroom furniture for the children that would grow with them.
Setting a glamourous tone from the moment you walk in, the hallway features bespoke mirrored panelling designed and made by the Origins Design team. We added mirrored panelling along the landings and corridors too further amplifying the light, enhancing the sense of space and maintaining a cohesive and polished look throughout.
The adjoining sitting room was designed to be both elegant and comfortable. Our furniture and upholstery teams crafted two contemporary sofas upholstered in a white boucle fabric, two occasional chairs in a smart herringbone fabric with a subtle gold sheen, and a wide bench seat in a velvet fitted with a moveable stained oak centre tray, perfect for refreshments or books. We created custom cushions with decorative trims and piping to tie the scheme together.
Built-in cabinets and open shelving with LED strip lighting in the recesses to either side of the fireplace offer the family both display space and valuable storage.
In the ground floor study, the owner needed a comfortable and well-planned space for days when they would be working from home. To meet this brief, we designed and supplied specialist bespoke joinery for one wall with an integrated desk positioned to look out of the window overlooking the front of the house.
The desk features a leather inlay surface and a pedestal drawer unit to one side. Base cabinets and full height shelving provide ample storage.
The result is a quiet, productive environment that blends seamlessly with the overall aesthetic of the home.
The kitchen space needed to function better for the family yet still offer a formal entertaining space when required.
To one side of the open-plan kitchen adjacent to the central kitchen island, we crafted a custom-made banquette to fit in the corner to create a comfortable family space.
Curving around the corner and deeply buttoned, the banquette is the focus of a new informal area perfect for the family to relax in, eat family meals or sit and have a coffee.
The large dining area needed a substantial formal dining table, large enough to seat the family and guests.
We designed and made a striking high-gloss dining table to seat ten people with ease. The gloss finish on the table adds polish and presence to this main entertaining space.
In the master bedroom, we designed a large luxurious headboard with central upholstered fluted panels and integrated pocket reading lights. Wallpapered panels to either side of the central panel extend behind each bedside table and feature integrated lighting controls and power sockets.
Matching wide, low-level bedside tables, upholstered king size bed base, upholstered bench for the end of the bed, and an occasional chair all by Origins Design, come together to create an elegant space.
In the master suite dressing room, our joinery team transformed the space with made to measure fitted furniture.
A dressing table sits to one side of the dressing room gently curving to the window. In the centre of the dressing room, we built a dressing room island with a bank of six deep drawers to each side. Our specialist joiners fitted wardrobes with doors in a spray finish and mirrored panelling on all the remaining walls providing ample hanging and shelf storage for all the homeowner’s clothes, footwear and accessories.
The combination of brass fixtures and fittings, off white spray finishes and mirrors creates a high-end, boutique feel.
Each of the three children’s bedrooms were designed to be comfortable now and suitable well into adulthood. Headboards, bedside tables, bed bases and soft furnishings were customised for each space, offering storage and style in equal measure.
Our team’s expertise in bespoke headboards is evident in the clever integrated features, customised sizing, different styles of panelling and variety of storage.
In the second bedroom, we added a central bedside table and two floating bedside tables to the bespoke headboard that stretches across the entire wall.
The floating bedside tables have lift up lids with integrated mirrors and LED lighting making them double up as small dressing tables. Integrated pockets lights mean the children can read without disturbing the other. Upholstered bespoke beds and bolster cushions complete the look.
Continuing on the same floor, the fifth bedroom features a full width bespoke headboard in a navy blue fabric and timber with matching bedside tables. LED strip lighting runs along the top of the headboard and each bed benefits from integrated pocket lighting. Our upholstery team created bed bases for the room in a neutral beige.
On the top floor of the house, our joiners created storage in between and to each side of the two children’s beds to provide hanging space as there were no built-in wardrobes in this room.
Cleverly angled to fit the sloping ceiling, the bedside storage units are crafted from a stained timber and feature recesses to each side of the beds with power sockets, light switches, shelves and integrated lighting. Knurled handles and cupboard knobs add interest and detail to the timber doors.
The hanging space for the children’s clothes is at waist height at each side of the beds with cupboard space above making full use of the eaves.
Upholstered headboards fit snugly behind each upholstered bed base and between the storage units creating a private, cosy and comfortable space for each child.
Also on the top floor of the house, the family room was designed as a relaxed space for games, film nights, and family time. Featuring soft bespoke modular seating, cushions and ottomans upholstered in rich, tactile fabrics, the seating is comfortable and perfect for informal time as a family.
This was a highly collaborative project, delivered on time with excellent communication and expert input from Octagon Interiors and all of our team at Origins Design. The challenge of creating sufficient storage for a large family while maintaining a sense of luxury was met through considered planning, tailored joinery solutions and exceptional craftsmanship.
