Set within a fully renovated and extended family home in Oxshott, Surrey, this bespoke upholstered furniture project was the culmination of a meticulous two-year interior transformation, led by Rebecca at Saskia Kate Interiors.
Rebecca’s brief was to design and manufacture a cohesive collection of bespoke upholstered furniture that would give depth to a neutral contemporary interior design scheme. The goal was to add warmth, comfort and character to the newly extended home, creating pieces that perfectly balanced luxury aesthetics with the robust functionality required for busy everyday family life.

Rebecca chose to change the layout of the long linear living space into two clearly defined spaces tailored to different activities: a formal living area and a relaxed TV room. Origins Design worked closely with Rebecca to craft bespoke seating tailored to the distinct functions and moods of each space.
For the more formal lounge area, we made two bespoke sofas with a refined form, upholstered in a textured oatmeal weave. Positioned facing each other, the contemporary sofas are comfortable yet structured enough for entertaining. To complement the clover-leaf shaped central ceiling light, we handcrafted two matching clover-leaf stools in a sage green velvet.
For the TV room, the emphasis was comfort. Here, our bespoke contemporary sofa features deep seating, broad armrests and soft feather and down-filled cushions, all upholstered in a piped pale cream fabric.
Against this calm, neutral backdrop, Rebecca introduced a striking focal point with a custom storage ottoman. Upholstered in a bold patterned fabric, we detailed the ottoman with pink piping and a long, sweeping, dusty pink fringe by Samuel & Sons, injecting personality and colour into the room while maintaining its neutral, contemporary feel.
The large, open-plan kitchen is the hub of the home and Rebecca carefully considered the space and how it functioned. She wanted the kitchen to remain calm and uncluttered despite it being continuously in use. For busy family mornings, the breakfast table required seating that would look smart and be easy to use.
The large banquette seat sits perfectly within the kitchen joinery beneath a side window. The seat cushions are upholstered in a red, green, and cream striped ticking fabric, chosen specifically to match the deep green custom kitchen cabinetry by Et Lorem.
Throughout the home, Rebecca has created sightlines and points of interest in all the transition spaces. In the hallway, we made a bespoke bench to Rebecca’s design to sit perfectly in an architectural niche underneath a painting.
Featuring a modernist curved form, the deep, comfortable seat is upholstered in a rich burnt orange velvet, creating a perfect pairing with the contemporary artwork hung above it.
This project represents more than two years of close collaboration with Rebecca at Saskia Kate Interiors and the wider project team for the property. True bespoke craftsmanship often requires ongoing flexibility and this process involved extensive coordination and numerous onsite adjustments to accommodate the homeowner’s evolving needs.
By carefully interpreting Rebecca’s initial designs and sketches and maintaining an uncompromising attention to detail, we have delivered pieces manufactured to exact dimensions and comfort levels.
The result is a home that feels deeply personal where every piece of bespoke upholstery contributes to a cohesive, beautiful interior.
